MARCH 24 at 6:00PM AWAKENING THE HEALING POWER OF YOUR BREATH Dear Yoga friends!
I am delighted to have been invited by the Durham Public Library to lead a Breathing Workshop on March 24 at 6:00PM. I hope you can join me for this special opportunity to practice together in person. For more than 42 years, the practice of Pranayama—the yogic science of conscious breathing—has been very dear to me. Learning to breathe more fully transformed my own well-being, bringing greater mental clarity, a calmer nervous system, improved sleep, and easier digestion. The breath has a profound influence on every system of the body. This workshop is designed to be accessible to everyone. No yoga experience and no yoga mat are needed--chairs will be provided. We will explore several gentle breathing techniques, along with a few Mudras (hand gestures) that create subtle energetic effects. You will learn the benefits and precautions for each practice and discover how different breathing patterns can calm, cool, energize, or warm the body. We will also include a few simple standing movements coordinated with the breath, followed by a short mindfulness meditation to experience the flow of your own life energy, or Prana.
